Gritt Village- Vision Inspiration & History

GRITT VILLAGE
THE VISION

The vision of Gritt Village began May 12, 2016 with intent on becoming an integrated platform of different forms of arts, such as music and fashion the core makeups of our creative expression. Our passion for music aligns a unique fascination with other creative arts such as acting, dancing and painting which we look to include in our theater.

Gritt Village

In addition to new music and products, Gritt Village presents Village Talk our place to read latest blogs or binge on news, how to vlogs and entertainment as we shed light on self-awareness. We strongly believe opening the minds of the youth to possibilities will encourage more to find some good reasons in tough times to achieve more. Begin with planting the proper seeds within our youth and use that as a tool to uplift our surrounding families.

Our Mission Statement

The character of a Gritt Village Villager is genuine, caring, loyal but tough. We have a certain Grittiness about us that is motivated by challenge. Villagers accept the challenge of providing The Village with our very best efforts with a willingness to learn and believing that knowledge will move us forward. In our journey of building long lasting relationships Gritt Village is here to make it happen.

About The Name

“Gritt” stands for “Good Reason in Tough Times.” Root word grit- in the sense of firmness in character. Hoping to inspire fortitude through times, encouraging commitment in building a village atmosphere. The City of Miami use to be called the “Village of Miami” hence the name Gritt Village.

A Story from Miami

Gritt Village identifies with communities within Miami, Florida where culture is well alive. Miami being one of the major cities it is today was built from a village of support. After wars rage between the Seminoles and Spaniards during the years 1819-1842 a group of settlers started the uphill grind to revive at the time the “Village of Miami.”  William English chartered the land, Julia Tuttle was the visionary and Henry Flagler was the railroad connection. Tuttle believed in the Village of Miami to become the next international trade and needed reason to influence Flagler to extend his railroad connections to the village.  Tuttle’s crop being one of the only surviving the severe winter that occurred in 1894 lead her citrus to become a cash crop. Tuttle's crop survival afforded them to be becoming the main source producer for citrus that year. Flagler was convinced and railroad tracks reached the village in 1896, the same year The City of Miami was incorporated by 444 citizens.
